Pilsener
Pilsener (also pilsner, pilsen or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the city of Plzeň, Bohemia, Czech Republic, where it was first produced in 1842.
A modern pilsener has a very light, clear colour from pale to golden yellow and a distinct hop aroma and flavour. The alcohol strength is typically around 4.5%-5% (by volume), if pilsener is brewed stronger, it is usually labelled "Export".
Pilsner beer styles
German-style Pilsener light straw to golden colour with more bitter or earthy taste.
Czech-style Pilsener golden, full of colours, with high foaminess and lighter flavour.
European-style Pilsener has a slightly sweet taste, can be produced from other than barley.
Wheat
Wheat-beer / Weissbier: a beer made from wheat by top fermentation; usually very pale, cloudy and effervescent.
Weizenbier or Hefeweizen, is a Bavarian beer in which a significant proportion of malted barley is replaced with malted wheat. Specialized strains of yeast are used which produce overtones of banana and clove as by-products of fermentation.
Weissbier got its name because it is paler in colour than Munich brown beer. It is well known throughout Germany and Austria , though better known as weizen ("wheat") outside Bavaria. The terms Hefeweizen ("yeast wheat") or Hefeweissbier refer to wheat beer in its traditional, unfiltered form.
